News from Holy Trinity

The intention of this page is to replace the Parish Magazine and supplement the Weekly Pew sheet.

The magazine has not been published for about 5 years and the pew sheet is printed weekly and is available to those who attend the services.

It is hoped that this medium of the internet will help to keep those interested in Holy Trinity Winchester up to date.

We would value any suggestions send us an email editor

RECTORY IS BACK WITH US.

After a long absence from our hands we have at long last got back the Rectory which has been in use by the Cathedral staff for over twenty years.

We need to spend a lot of time and money getting it back to a habitable condition but it is another step towards rebuilding Holy Trinity into a PARISH Church once again.

Over the past couple of years we have invested a lot of money and time in the refurbishment of the halls after the period of neglect they went through

Bookings are looking good and the future is very promising with many new organisations using them.

We have a couple of children’s activities that are very interesting

Text Box: Carpark
We have the great advantage of a large car park in the centre of the city.
It serves us well and our parishioners but also is an asset to the local community.
Unfortunately some people think it is a free car park for popping into town.
Consequently we have had to have the car park patrolled.
There is a risk of being clamped if parked without permission.
If you would like to use the car park there is a waiting list but contact us after April 1st when we have renewed all our existing permits we may have vacancies.

Current work in hand

On the church

We started replacing the aged and damaged guttering around the church last autumn, unfortunately we only managed the south side as the ground became to soft to drive the cherry picker over to access the north side.

This we hope to do in the spring and are currently investigating the possibilities of scaffolding instead. We still need to access the bellcote as we have leaks despite the extensive work that was done on it a couple of years ago.

A new problem has arisen in the church heating. When the system was very expensively updated four years ago much of the 50 plus years old piping was reused and it is now cracking up unable to take the pressure of a new system. We have had to shut the church this week until the leak can be resolved.

So it is a shame that we will have to spend a lot of money on work we thought had been done when we should be able to spend it enhancing the church and grounds.
